AI use

I want to be clear about where AI tools fit into the work I share here. This page will cover my practices, boundaries, and how I credit their use in individual pieces.

Writing and research

The final product of my writing will always be written by myself and never generated via AI. I might use AI for brainstorming and initial research, but I will always make an effort to link to real primary sources when citing facts. If you ever catch me breaking my own rules here, please feel free to call me out.

Software and experiments

I am a self-taught software engineer with over 10 years of pre-AI experience writing code for the web, mobile, and desktop. I use agentic coding harnesses like Claude and Codex to generate the vast majority of the code that goes into my professional and personal projects. I remain skeptical of the ethics and business models for frontier AI model providers, but in practical terms these tools are too useful to ignore at today’s rates. The simple fact is that, without these tools, none of my recent personal projects would exist.

Music, images, and video

I will never present any music, image, or video as my own work that was generated wholesale from a prompt from a service like Suno, Sora, or ChatGPT. That said, AI-powered tools are making their way into the pipelines for creating these. A primary goal of mine is to explore where these tools can support the work without sacrificing the integral human quality of these art forms.
